“Gold”

For this painting I imagined the three wise men approaching the manger and seeing Mary holding her precious baby. There is something so special about the bond between a mother and her child. This year my first grandchild was born, and two weeks later I unexpectedly lost my mom. So this painting is especially meaningful to me. The glowing radiant light around mother and child represents Jesus’ birth – light piercing into a dark world. The metallic gold ink symbolizes the gift of gold brought by the wise men. I also used gold ink to write out the scripture verse Matthew 2:11. As a graphic designer, I like to engage the viewer with compelling visuals and word.

Every child is a miracle and gift from God - Jesus is the ultimate gift.
